Start Your Own Campaign!
Getting your class or group involved with Mercy Ships Australia
How can I help?
There are lots of ways that you can help to raise awareness and funds for Mercy Ships. Below are a few of our suggestions, but you can come up with your own ideas too.
Donate your birthday
A really easy way to raise funds for Mercy Ships is to ask your friends and family to donate the same amount as the age you’re turning. 10th birthday? That’s $10 from each person. 16th birthday? That’s $16. 25th birthday? That’s $25.
Hold an event
Your class, entire school, uni, church, sports team or any other group you’re involved in can get together to hold a morning tea, bake sale, BBQ or similar event to raise money for Mercy Ships. Sell your food and other items for a certain amount, or ask each guest for a gold coin donation towards your campaign.
Sponsor Mercy Ships operations
Get the people you know to sponsor the health care services Mercy Ships delivers by giving enough money to provide UV-blocking eyeglasses ($20), bandages ($25), dental care ($50), cleft lip surgery ($200) etc. We’ll send you a price list so that you and your friends can choose what service they’d like to sponsor.
Fill money boxes
We can send you money boxes that you can distribute wherever you like (classrooms, faculty offices, friends etc). Get people to fill them with their spare change.
Once you've decided
Once you’ve chosen how you’d like to help Mercy Ships, you can get in touch with our National Office and we’ll send you promotional items to help you out. We have brochures, photos, DVDs, PowerPoint presentations and flyers that you might like to use. Use your creativity to make banners, posters and anything else you can think of to make your event memorable.
Set a goal
A great way to stay focused and to encourage people to help you is to set a fundraising goal. Whether it’s $100 or $1000, every dollar helps Mercy Ships to bring hope and healing to the world’s forgotten poor. See how a Sunday School class raised $621 for Mercy Ships!
Promote your event
Use email, Facebook and Twitter to get people involved. We can even give you a shout out on the Mercy Ships Australia Facebook and Twitter.
